National and Local Resources for Supporting Your Functioning With Chronic Pain
The approach at Restore Fx is supported by years of research across numerous areas-- medicine, psychology, physical therapy, health and wellness and rehabilitation to name a few. The common theme in these areas when it comes to dealing effectively with chronic pain is SELF-MANAGEMENT. Chronic pain is, unfortunately to date, an incurable disease, much like diabetes. And just like diabetes while it cannot be cured it can be managed. The key to living successfully with chronic pain is...YOU. The more you get involved in your care, the more successfully you will live with pain, building a happy, meaningful and productive life despite having residual pain. These resources below can provide you with support in becoming and maintaining your best self, despite the pain.
Austin Chronic Pain Meet Up Group
A peer support group for those in the Austin area living with chronic pain. ( free)
ACPM provides a way to network with others with chronic pain, share resources, discuss pain related topics, and support one another in a constructive, positive environment. We may not be able to change the physical realities of life with chronic pain but we can work on improving our quality of life and enjoy spending time with others who are working to do the same. ACPM holds a regular monthly meeting which includes a group discussion of a topic or issue related to chronic pain, as well as time to talk and enjoy good company and good food in a relaxed, supportive environment. Other meetups are scheduled occasionally and meetup suggestions are always welcome. We are exclusively a peer to peer support group and as such our meetings are open only to individuals with chronic pain and their guests, and family or friends of individuals with chronic pain. Health care providers and those offering goods or services are not permitted.
